The Foundation supports these activities through outreach programs, training & racing activities, provision of sailing equipment and facilities, and encouragement of participation in local, national and international nautical activities.
Currently, the Sailing Foundation’s primary objectives are to support local high school sailing programs and to expand our Youth Keelboat Program.

The Gulf Coast Sailing Foundation has started it’s Youth Keelboat Program! It all started with a gracious donation of a Beneteau 40.7 sailboat. “Lunami” is a 2002 racer/cruiser with a PHRF handicap rating of 60.
The “Lunami” crew will consist of all youth sailors ranging from 15 to 25 years of age. As well as racing and practicing, the team will have to help maintain and care for the vessel.
The program will concentrate on two major regattas in our area; LPRC and Gulfport to Pensacola.
The Gulf Coast Sailing Foundation currently supports the local high school sailing scene by supplying coaches, sailboats, gear, and support vessels. Our Coaches are now working with Gulfport High School and St. Patrick Catholic High School. In 2007 the GCSF created the Mississippi High School Sailing Championship. Gulfport Yacht Club donated the trophy, a 115lb slab of granite with a Baccarat Crystal Sailboat called "The Rock". It was ensure teams had something to work for for year to come.
